Live session #14 Volcanic Glass

Recorded live session in which I discuss and show a variety of different forms of volcanic glass. Volcanic glass occurs in nature in various forms, the most well-known being obsidian. Unfortunately, a lot of industrial glass is also sold as Andara obsidian, Gaia Stone and Helenite, among others.

In the session I show several examples of natural obsidian, such as black, mahogany, snowflake, silver/gold sheen obsidian and apache tears. Pumice, basalt slag and volcanic ash are also forms of volcanic glass.

I end the session with a few unusual varieties of volcanic glass, namely basaltic volcanic glass from the bottom of the ocean and “glazed” sandstone by contact with lava from the Eifel (Exotzamite).

In the live session on Belazerite, I discuss fake volcanic glass such as Andara obsidian in more detail.
